We found SOULBEE’s “Spirit” inexplicably hiding in the Hip-Hop section and while there may be some subtle tones there, this is definitely soulful RnB. A beautiful Maxwellian vibe. Cool and crisp like a December’s day in the UK the perfect feel for the time of year.
Mario is back with a new album “Glad You Came” and the pick of the tracks has to be “Space“. Something danceable and nice crossover for the radio and the club.
The Jamairoqui-esque floating vocals on top of jazzy horns and a classy rap bring LunarBlvd’s “Lipstick” into our sights. If more Hip-Hop was like this, we wouldn’t weep when going through the genre each week.
The Gene Dudley Group’s “I’ve Changed” from the “We Wah 25” Compilation is a great throwback track that is younger than it’s sound may let on. Think of Matt Covington’s “We Got One“. That soulful, rare groove vibe that your ears have been longing for forever. Not sure how we missed this until now, but glad we found it when we did.
Catpack & Amber Navran make up the Top5 with “The Top” funky, soulful house with some not quite broken beats and nu-jazz flows. A lovely addition to the collection.
