The Good Folk at Bastard Jazz have released another soul-stealing gem in the form of the Buscrates’ “Gotta Get Back” featuring the luscious vocals of Lailah Reich. Smooth, rich and delicately funky it’s a late contender for tune of the month.

MNEA’s “Hurt” doesn’t so much sample Paris’s 1984 Classic “I Choose You“, it borrows heavily from the entire song. But it’s “I Choose You”!! So it’s automatically going to be great. (Plus it forced me to pull the original out and give it a spin for old times sake). For anyone unfamilliar with the original, this is the perfect introduction.

Two Hidden Labs’s “Come On Over” has been categorized as Pop!!? Maybe… but it makes a fine fusion of jazz, R&B and if they insist pop. But irrespective of the genre, it makes me groove.

More soft soul from Chicago’s Patchwork Inc in the form of “Whatever It Takes To Make You Happy” is a must for the Quiet Storm playlist. Lay down (preferably not on your own), switch off the lights and let the music do the rest.

If you’re a regular listener to the station you’ll know that Irma Italy have been a mainstay provider of great tracks for the past few years. And it continues with the Fusion Funk Foundation with those must have participants Lo Greco Bros and Soulstance. “Movin’ Down” is just straight up 70’s-style Jazz-Funk. Just under 5 minutes of pure dancefloor heaven. A real DJ’s Delite!
