Speed Date The Soultrend Orchestra & Papik

The first chart of 2025 starts as we hope the year will continue, upbeat, optimistic and full of funky fun. Kako Martinez’s Nu-Disco jam “Conversations” has a Benny Golson “I’m Aways Dancing” type of riff running through it, and a distinct flavor of the horns from E,W & F’s “I’ve Had Enough” which makes it an automatic winner.

Alex Kano & Stephane Deschezeaux provide a sweet 80’s-style mid-tempo, floor-filler throwback in the form of “Superstarz“.

Sault provide a nice fusion of Neo-soul, bit quite broken… but slightly damaged? beats and Gospel (worth checking out the album Acts of Faith) with the short but sweet “Heal

The Zapp influence is immediately recognizable in the Chromatiks’ ultra funky “Feel The Bounce”. (It really takes you back!!)

And one of 2024’s best artists (Papik) on , arguably, 2024’s best label (Irma Italy) combine with The Soultrend Orchestra to produce one of the standout tracks from the “Dancefloor Jazz” Compilation, “Speed Date“. Uptempo, breezy Nu-Jazz is just what you need on those cold, frosty wintry days.

The first week of 2025 is bright and fresh… we hope your New Year has started in the same vein.

Happy New Year from Alfie and the Funkjunkiez. 🙂
